About this course
This course will give learners the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the confidence to start a conversation about mental health.
Suitable for everyone within a workplace, the course content includes a general look at what First Aid for Mental Health involves.
Learners will study the impact of stress and how to recognise symptoms, and look at identifying and understanding mental health conditions, providing advice and starting a conversation.
Through this course, learners will gain knowledge of some of the most common mental health problems, learn how to confidently start a conversation about mental health and be able to signpost someone towards professional help.
To become a qualified mental health first aider, learners should complete the Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health and Level 3 Supervising First Aid for Mental Health courses.
The assessment for this course will be completed remotely.
The professional discussion will be carried out between the learner and course tutor and the time allowed for this is one hour. Learners will be given an agenda and time to prepare for the discussion, where they will be supported to discuss all they have learned on the course.
